Confessions from the Pastor's Family: PK Thoughts 101

My father is a preacher. My husband is a preacher. My brother is a preacher. I have uncles who are preachers. I have cousins who are preachers.  All of my life I have been surrounded by preachers!!! Let me share something with you that may not cross your mind when you think about the preacher’s family; we would rather have our loved one do ANYTHING ELSE but be a preacher, especially a pastor. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that majority of those from a preacher’s family have contemplated more than a handful of times...

This Girl has Mom Goals!

I have always had goals. My entire life has been based upon having goals and accomplishing those goals. My parents, especially my mother, pretty much taught my siblings and I to create goals and then learn the steps of accomplishing those goals and invest our time into those steps. The drive to make sure that I had a list and completed the list pretty much became an obsession just before high school. I wanted to attend a good high school...check! I wanted to get accepted into and attend an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities)...check! Transfer to a college closer...

Jesus Guide My Journey
Author and poet Jackie Hill Perry once said, “For me personally, I know I don’t need to hear another sermon on prayer or to read another book on it for me to have a better prayer life. Because my problem isn't a lack of information, it’s pride. Pride makes me prayerless because it tells me that I’ll be just fine without it.” This quote hit me like a hammer to the heart.
